PTSAs actually provide youth members with the opportunity to
make a difference by developing leadership skills, learning about the
legislative process, increasing their self-esteem, and contributing to
the school. In turn, adult members gain a new perspective for program
development, as well as acquire a better understanding of the youth of

PTSA Volunteers Needed for 2013-14!
The PTSA is in need of volunteers to fill several key positions next year.
Those currently in these positions are all parents of 8th grade students who
will be leaving Carnage at the end of this year. We’d like to fill these positions
as soon as possible to allow time for the transition of knowledge from the
current volunteers to the new volunteers. Open positions include:
- Spirit wear committee chair
- Teacher appreciation committee chair
Please contact our current president Beth Ayres firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to volunteer for one of these positions.
WCPSS Student Assignment Plan

This plan makes significant changes to the student assignment process. Find
out how the new plan works and what your options are.
PTSA Membership Update and Phantom Fundraiser
Another way to support Carnage is by contributing to our Phantom
Fundraiser. The great thing about
this fundraiser is that 100% of your donation is tax deductible and 100%
of it stays here at Carnage and is used to fund teacher grants, help with
technology upgrades and offer cultural arts experiences for our students.
Please refer to the “Phantom Fundraiser” box in the middle of the
Membership form to make a contribution. Remember, behind every successful
school is a strong PTSA! Thank you for your support!!

Find out more about Common Core Standards
Every school district in North Carolina will implement a new course of study in the 2012-13 school year, known as the Common Core and Essential Standards. The new guidelines raise standards in several subject areas, and change what students are learning at each grade level. WCPSS is providing teachers with curriculum and guidelines on how to plan for new topics and lessons required by Common Core.
Box Tops for Education Update
Our second box top shipment was mailed October 27th for a total earned
of $444.60. This is a great start for the year! The check will be mailed to
Carnage on December 15th. This is one of the easiest ways for our school to
earn money. Also – With the holiday season approaching this is a great time
for people to log on to Box
Tops for Education website and look at all of the shop online stores
where our school could earn a percentage of the purchases made.
